This one has been very elusive. It is hard to see all of what this home has to offer from the photos. The back half of the house which has most of the living space is very secluded. It is one of the first rain screen siding systems I had seen in Seattle. One thing we have seen is Seattle is an appoach to design more permiable surfaces. The paver stones with steppables growing between are very organised and a enviromentaly friendly design.

This one is one of my favorites in the city. I enjoy the material use of concrete and weathered steel. The terraced gardens are accessed by steel ladders. The form tie-holes are all in order creating a pattern in the concrete. This home has great color without paint, just the raw concrete and rusty steel with natural greenery to accent it all.

This modern home is located a 1/2 block from where my grandparents used to live. The street with the healthy bamboo used to be a prime spot to pick blackberries. This home has beautiful naturally weathered cedar siding. It was the first high profile modern home in neighborhood. Since then I've seen an addition on another home up the street that appears to be designed by the same architect.

I hope this design starts a trend in the neighborhood.

Seattle Modern is my newest blog. My intention is to show off the home design that inspires me. All of the homes are located in the Seattle Metropolitan area. This one is still in progress. It looks fantastic. It has is being built with a great variety and use materials. I love the unstained vertical siding and cool black window frames. I'll get another photo when it is finished.
